What is a title card? (+ Examples)
A title card is a printed text that goes into (edited) the film at various points. It can be “in front of a scene” or presented by itself. Some examples of title cards are located in this video:
It shows the variety of films that Disney has produced throughout the years, and how a title card can look differently. I took inspiration from this and for my title card, I have done it behind a black screen, so it is easily visible, and then fades out to reveal the second part of the film intro. I have composed a title card through Canva, to include an animated feel to the film intro, establishing its representation in teen girls and relationships.
Timelapse of creating the Title Card
This is a timelapse of me putting together the title card in Canva. I tried to speed it up, but I used Canva to do the time lapse, and it could only let me go so fast, so the video is about 4-5 minutes long. Enjoy!
Final Thoughts
For the title card, it took little effort as I already had the title in a movie poster, I had created for the film intro. The “scrapbook feel” is (again) to establish the age range, and to give a more lighthearted, romantic feel to the film intro that is revealing what the movie (will be) is about, prior to the second part of the film intro in which the girl is distressed. Also, the colors, and animation, adds to the characterization of the main subject (the girl). It shows her unorganized self, trying to come together after the heartbreak, and her creativity and her age (equaling to her innocence, confusion, and annoyance that comes with this long distance). And this is the final look of the title card:
