Thank God!
Filming for the CCR pt.1 is officially done! To recap, the first CCR is a video that I based off of the series Chopped –from Food Network– but instead made it CCR. This was inspired by my first ever video done (aka 30-second creation project in the beginning of the year), where I made a 30-second video about a chef presenting to a tough food critic. Flash forward to now, I am continuing in the culinary theme and chose to base my CCR off it. This video covered the first two questions out of the four which ask:
How does the film opening use or challenge conventions, and how does it represent social groups or issues?
How does the film opening engage with audiences, and how would it be distributed as a real media text?
How the CCR ran…
So, to be creative, I filmed this as if it was an episode of Chopped, with a “host” and everything. My brother (obviously) took the role of the host and presented me with a basket holding ingredients to make a dish on the spot, but weirdly, I also pulled out a microphone and a light, two essential things used in FILMING, not cooking. I just go along with it, and begin cooking while also yapping about the film intro as I am cooking, but also cutting to the “interview” portion of the show, where I go more in depth about the film intro (basically answering the questions in more detail, while also keeping the comedy)
So primarily the video will be in the interview portion, and it will be edited with a mini title card saying my name, candidate number and film intro name, as per CCR requirements. But, the video will cut back to me in the kitchen in various times to keep the Chopped them going and then I’m going to finish by revealing the final product made with the ingredients in the basket (which was my brother and I’s actual lunch that day~ I planned it that way), and being like “Yeah, A Great Valentine’s” in theaters (such and such). So, the CCR is a Chopped episode, mixed in with marketing (like what one of the questions asked about distribution of the film), to promote the film intro.
